Thomas Bartholin (1616-1680) war ein dänischer Arzt, Anatom und Theologe. An der Universität Leiden erforschte er als Schüler Johannes de Waals die Lymphgefäßen und die Theorie des Blutkreislauf von William Harvey. Ab 1649 erhielt er den Lehrstuhl für Anatomie an der Universität Kopenhagen. Bartholins bedeutsamste Entdeckung ist die des Lymphsystems als eigenständiges Organsystem. Diese Ausgabe seiner Anatomia reformata erschien in Leiden (Lugduni batavorum) im Jahr 1651.
