Im Jahr 1967 wurde durch den späteren Bundeskanzler Willy Brandt auf der Internationalen Funkausstellung in Berlin der Startschuss zum Farbfernsehen in Deutschland gegeben. In diese Zeit fällt auch der Bau des Fernsehapparats Metz Capri-S, designmäßig ein Klassiker. Die angebotenen Bildschirmdiagonalen von 59 und 65 cm waren für damalige Verhältnisse sehr großzügig dimensioniert.
