Memnon, the mythical king of the Aithiopians, comes to the aid of the Troians. In a duel he defeats Antilochos, the son of Nestor. Memnon himself later dies in battle with Achilles, as the latter follows Nestor's request to avenge Antilochos' death (Hom. Od. 4, 187-188; Pind. P., 6,28-39; Pind. N. 6,49-53). (AVS)
