Mino da Fiesole

Niccolò Strozzi
1454. Marmor

Niccolò Strozzi (1411-1469) was one of the principal bankers at the papal court in Rome. We know from documents that he was also a passionate gourmand and certainly fatter than this bust would make us believe. He was one of the first personalities to request a portrait in marble on the model of the emperors of Antiquity.
