Die Tuschezeichnung mit begonnenem Kolorit, wurde von Prof. Michael Wentzel wohl während seines Aufenthaltes in Italien (1828-1831) gefertigt. Deutlich sichtbar ist auch die mit Bleistift ausgeführte Vorzeichnung. Oben rechts mit "Palazzuolo 27 Sept." beschriftet. Das Blatt zeigt links Ruinen in einer Gebirgslandschaft und rechts eine Straße. In den Ruinen befindet sich ein Wandbrunnen an dem zwei Frauen in nonnenartiger Kleidung, Wasser holen. Am linken Bildrand ist mit Bleistift einer Wasserträgerin mit Tracht skizziert.
