Die Arbeit gehört zu einer Serie von Landschaftsaquarellen, die der Künstler in seiner Oberlausitzer Heimat schuf. Der Künstler Max Walter Ulbrich (1911-1977) schöpfte seine Inspiration aus der Natur seiner Heimat. Besonders die Teich- und Berglandschaften der Oberlausitz und speziell die Altstadt seines Wohnortes in Bautzen dienten ihm als Refugium.
