Armbänder wurden von Frauen und Männern im Alltag getragen und waren von Anbeginn der ägyptischen Geschichte Teil der Grabausstattung einer Elite-Bestattung. In der Regel wurden sie aus Muscheln oder Schalen von Weichtieren gefertigt. In der 1. und 2. Dynastie wurden Armreife außerdem aus gewöhnlichem Gestein sowie aus Edelsteinen hergestellt. Das Objekt aus Grauwacke stammt aus dem Antikenhandel, kann aber vermutlich ebenfalls mit der königlichen Nekropole von Abydos verbunden werden. (J. Jancziak)
