Rice Basket (Kamalok)

Description

The basket is woven from bamboo. The upper rim is reinforced with a rattan hoop. According to the index card, a basket like this filled with wet rice constituted the usual daily wage of a harvest worker.
Entry in the historical main catalogue: "Kamalok" wage basket. Such a basket filled with paddy consistutes the usual daily wage for fieldwork among the Âo.
