Description

Egg-shaped wooden figure carved for the tourist market with some pronounced protrusions and a bird's head. The head has a long beak and large round eyes. The figure appears as if the baby bird is breaking through the shell as it hatches, causing it to break into several pieces. The surface is polished and unpainted. The traditional hole for a string is missing. These figurines existed exclusively on Easter Island and were traditionally considered female jewelry.
