The stand represents the basis for one of the so-called stand attachments among the Luristan Bronzes. A bead at the lower end of the hollow base enlarges the standing surface of the piece and thus probably contributed to the stability of the tall, slender form. Above it, an edge leads into a tube that fans out into a plate-shaped base. The hole inside the plate is round and served to hold a shaft that fixed an attachment to the stand. Thus, the stand represents only one part for a tripartite, more complex composite object.
The so-called stands represent one of the best-known groups of objects from the Luristan Bronzes, but very few have been recovered from documented excavations. Two of the rare pieces come from Cheshmeh Mahi and from Khatunban B (Iran). The latter was uncovered together with another stand with a more expansive base (Overlaet, B. 2003. The Early Iron Age in the Pusht-i Kuh, Luristan (Lovanii), 190 No. 157:6).
