Description

These are a small arrowhead and a hunting knife blade attached to a board for presentation purposes. The knife blade is sharp on both sides. The Herero’s carried it with them while shepherding to protect themselves, their families and animals and also for hunting wild animals. The size of the arrow size suggests that it was used in hunting birds and animals with soft skins.

The collector and the exact circumstances of the acquisition remain unclear (status: 2023). Due to the presumed colonial context of the collection, the object is still classified as sensitive.
